Music Distribution API & White-Label Platform
A white-label music distribution platform lets companies run music distribution under their own brand on top of existing delivery infrastructure. LabelGrid provides the REST API, DSP delivery network, royalty processing, and catalog system. You provide the brand and the customers.
The distribution engine is ready to run: catalog management, release scheduling, DSP delivery, royalty accounting, analytics, and webhooks. Launch your own distribution service or wire LabelGrid into the tools you already use. Documentation is public, so you can read every endpoint before you sign up.
WHITE-LABEL MUSIC DISTRIBUTION
What is white-label music distribution?
White-label music distribution is the model where a distributor, label, or software company sends music to streaming platforms under its own brand while a third party runs the underlying delivery, encoding, and royalty pipeline. The reseller owns the customer relationship, the pricing, and the interface. The infrastructure provider handles DSP connections, DDEX formatting, ingestion, and accounting.
LabelGrid is that infrastructure provider. Subscribe to an API plan, build your interface against our public REST API, and your artists and labels see your brand from sign-up through payout. You decide what the product looks like and what it costs. We move the music and the money.
REST API
How does the LabelGrid API work?
The LabelGrid API is a REST API that speaks JSON over HTTPS. Every endpoint lives under https://api.labelgrid.com/api/public. You authenticate with an API token, passed as a bearer token in the Authorization header, so there is no OAuth dance and no SDK lock-in. Any HTTP client works.
The endpoints cover the full distribution lifecycle: build catalog metadata, upload audio and artwork, validate a release against DSP rules, submit it for delivery, and read the analytics and royalty data that come back. Reference endpoints return the genres, languages, contributor roles, territories, and outlets you need to populate metadata correctly.
GET /api/public/releases
POST /api/public/releases
POST /api/public/releases//validate
POST /api/public/releases//distribute

INTEGRATION WALKTHROUGH
From sandbox to your first delivery
- Get a sandbox account. API plans include a sandbox environment so you can build against real endpoints without touching live deliveries or real money.
- Authenticate. Generate an API token and send it as a bearer token in the
Authorizationheader on every request. A call to/api/public/meconfirms you are connected. - Build the catalog. Create a label and an artist, then a release, then tracks. Upload audio and artwork to the release and track file endpoints. Reference endpoints supply valid genres, languages, roles, and territories so your metadata passes validation.
- Validate and distribute. Call the validate endpoint to check a release against DSP rules, fix anything it flags, then submit it for delivery. ISRC and UPC values are validated as part of the release flow.
- Listen for events. Register a webhook to receive review-status changes and delivery updates as they happen, instead of polling. Each event arrives as a signed JSON payload.
- Pull the data back. Read streaming and engagement analytics, royalty statements, and transactions through the API to power your own dashboards and payouts.
REAL-TIME EVENTS
Webhook Notifications
Register webhook endpoints and LabelGrid pushes events to you as they happen — review-status changes and delivery updates among them — so your platform reacts in real time instead of polling for state. Each event arrives as a JSON payload with the full context your systems need to act on it.
Manage webhooks through the API itself: create and update endpoints, choose which event types each one receives, send test hooks, inspect delivery logs, and rotate the signing secret. Payloads are signed, so you can verify they came from LabelGrid before trusting them.
YOUR BRAND, OUR ENGINE
What can you build on LabelGrid?
Run a fully branded distribution service on LabelGrid infrastructure. The operational heavy lifting works from day one: DSP delivery to all major platforms, royalty processing, and catalog management. Your artists and labels see your brand, not ours. You handle onboarding, support, and billing.
The API is the only thing you need to integrate. Build a distribution front end for a label group, add distribution as a feature inside an existing music SaaS product, run a catalog-migration pipeline, or sync royalty data into your own accounting tools. Custom logo, email templates, royalty-statement branding, and a support portal all sit under your domain.
A hosted white-label UI with custom domain, logo, and color scheme is planned for 2026 — configure and launch, no front-end build required. Contact sales to talk through either path, or start in the developer hub.
SELL ON BEHALF OF
SOBO & Direct Deals
Distributors with their own DSP contracts can use LabelGrid as delivery infrastructure while keeping their direct deals. SOBO (Sell on Behalf Of) lets you deliver through your own agreements with 100% royalty retention on those direct-deal deliveries.
Run a hybrid model — your direct deals where you have them, LabelGrid’s DSP network for everything else — and manage every delivery from one place regardless of which path it takes. Combined with Merlin membership, you get strong rates across platforms.
You keep 100% of royalties on your direct deals. For platforms where you don’t have an agreement, use LabelGrid’s standard DSP network and pay only the standard 5% distribution fee.
INDUSTRY-STANDARD METADATA
DDEX Delivery & Import
LabelGrid supports DDEX ERN 3.8.2, 4.3.0, 4.3.1, and 4.3.2, generating compliant feeds for DSP delivery with full support for NewReleaseMessage and PurgeReleaseMessage. Territory-specific release dates, deal terms, and rights holders are preserved exactly as submitted.
Migrating from another distributor? DDEX import lets you bring an existing catalog into LabelGrid without rebuilding metadata by hand. Our team helps map and validate your feed during onboarding so you can start delivering through LabelGrid quickly. See the DDEX import guide for what we accept and how validation works.
MULTI-LABEL MANAGEMENT
One Account, Multiple Label Portals
Manage multiple labels and imprints from a single account. Each label portal gets its own branding, catalog, user access, and royalty reporting — completely separate from your other labels.
Distributors managing a roster of labels, or labels running multiple imprints, can scale from a handful of portals to a hundred as the business grows. Add labels through the API or the dashboard without contacting support.
Every portal operates independently — separate artist rosters, release pipelines, royalty statements, and user permissions. Your sub-labels never see each other’s data. Consolidated reporting at the parent level gives you a complete view across all labels.
